India experienced a below-par batting performance in the first innings during their Super 4 clash of the Asia Cup 2025 against Bangladesh at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Even after getting 96 runs for the loss of two wickets at the halfway mark, the Suryakumar Yadav-led side couldn’t cross the 175-run mark, which was even possible due to Hardik Pandya’s 37 runs at a strike rate of 130.

With the ball, the Blue Brigade needed to take a huge responsibility. Hardik took the new ball and gave a three on the very first ball of the first inning. On the first delivery, Tanzid Hasan Tamim drove his bat to Jasprit Bumrah and went for a huge shot through the covers.

Bumrah went for a slower delivery on the next ball as the southpaw batter closed his bat face to get a leading edge, which went straight up in the air before Shivam Dube settled near mid-on and took a simple catch to send the batter back. There was movement away from the left-handed, and Tamim tried to play against it.

Bumrah’s second over of the second innings was equally excellent. The second ball of the fourth over swung later and smashed Parvez Emon on the pads. The entire Indian team appealed before the decision was upheld to the third umpire, who revealed that the impact was on the umpire’s call.

Parvez Emon smashed Varun Chakravarthy for two boundaries in three balls of the fifth over to get closer to the game. He pulled Bumrah for a six over the wide long-on region, a six to shoulder themselves to 44/1 in their six overs. That was a decent start for the side, who later lost Emon for 21 runs.

Earlier in the inning, Abhishek Sharma clubbed a fine knock of 75 runs in just 37 balls to provide them a fine stat with the bat before the opposition made a fine comeback to put pressure with three quick wickets in the middle order of the line-up.
