The former captain of the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), KL Rahul, experienced a challenging time in the 2024 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) as the leader of the franchise. When they lost their clash against the Sunrisers Hyderabad by 10 wickets at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, the cameras found the owner of the side, Sajiv Goenka, going hard at Rahul.
The reports claimed that both of them had a break in their relationship, which led to Rahul's departure in the very next season. The Bengaluru-born Indian batter has now opened up on how he struggled in the leadership during the 2024 season.

“What I found hard as a captain in the IPL that year was that you were consistently being asked a lot of questions. It’s almost after a point in time, it felt like you were questioned as to what you make that change or why did X play in the eleven or why the opposition got 200, and we couldn’t even cross 120 or why their bowlers were getting more spin.” Rahul expressed that the video has gone viral.

Rahul, apart from his captaincy, was decent with the bat as he smashed 520 runs in 14 innings at an average of 37.14 and a strike rate of 136.12 with the help of four half-centuries at the best score of 82. In the previous edition, he collected 539 runs at a strike rate of around 150.
“I mean, these questions are something that we don’t get asked throughout the year. Because the coaches know what’s going on. You are only answerable to the coaches and the selectors because they understand the game. Those who haven’t played won’t know these parts of the game, no matter what.” Rahul explained in the same interaction.
“No matter how many boxes you tick, there is nothing in sports that guarantees victory. So that was the hardest part to explain to people who come from a non-sporting background.” The former LSG captain addressed.
