India opener Yashasvi Jaiswal added a touch of humor to a grinding Day 3 at Old Trafford as he was caught on the stump mic making a cheeky comment while trying to energize his teammates. With England’s batters Joe Root and Ollie Pope firmly in control, Jaiswal’s on-field banter stood out during an otherwise frustrating session for the visitors. The duo had resumed play on 225/2 and went on to dominate the Indian bowlers in the first session.

As India desperately searched for a breakthrough, Jaiswal was heard saying, "Macha, I need some English here. I want hear some English from you, come on!"
—a comment that amused fans and brought a lighter moment amid the intense contest. Root and Pope’s steady partnership of 107 runs in the session left the Indian bowlers struggling for answers on a slow Manchester surface. Captain Shubman Gill rotated his pacers, but the experienced English pair looked untroubled.

In an effort to change the tempo, Gill introduced spinners Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar before lunch, but neither could break the partnership. However, the tide briefly turned after the break when Sundar used the drift to his advantage and dismissed Pope for 71, caught by KL Rahul at slip, ending a 144-run stand.
