The former Indian World Cup-winning captain, MS Dhoni, who is often seen keeping himself away from the chants outside the cricket field, made a rare public appearance when the renowned Bollywood actor, Salman Khan, celebrated his 60th birthday in Panvel, Maharashtra. Khan marked the milestone with a midnight party at his farmhouse, which was attended by close family members, friends, and colleagues from the film industry.

MS Dhoni’s presence at the event became a talking point in almost no time, as it highlighted the strong relationship between the two individuals and how the popularity of Dhoni remained the same even after he retired from international cricket five years later. The media almost made their way outside the gate of the farmhouse.

As the wicket-keeper batter left the venue and settled himself into the car with his wife and daughter, the fans gathered outside the house and broke into the loud chants of ‘Mahi bhai’- which was a reminder of his unmatched aura even after his absence from international cricket.

Dhoni has now limited his time in the public eye and only plays for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL). But every year, it remains the constant question of when he would call it a day in the 20-over franchise league event. Dhoni will once again feature for the franchise in the IPL 2026 season, having been retained by the side he led to five titles in the history of the edition.

The Ranchi-born remains the second leading run-getter for the Super Kings, having smashed 5314 runs in 238 innings at an average of nearly 39 and a strike rate of close to 140 with the help of 23 half-centuries at the best score of unbeaten 84 runs, which came against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in 2019 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.

This year, Chennai has started to put their shoulders on the youngsters, keeping in mind the future, as they need to invest in the upcoming players. During the IPL 2026 auction, they invested a total of INR 28.4 crore on the two uncapped players- Prashant Veer and Kartik Sharma.
