Former South African fast bowler Makhaya Ntini was part of a lighthearted and funny incident during a recent SA20 match when he jumped onto a fan after a stunning one-handed catch in the crowd. In the process, Ntini unknowingly disturbed a special celebration between the fan and his partner.
The SA20 2025–26 season began on December 26 in Cape Town, and the second day of the tournament saw Pretoria Capitals take on Joburg Super Kings at Centurion. The venue was packed with fans, who eagerly watched the thrilling matches, along with the unexpected incident.
Batting first for the Joburg Super Kings, Wiaan Mulder made a vibrant display of 43 runs off 28 balls, including three fours and three sixes. His one six went into the stands, and this incident became a memorable one for fans.
Ntini’s Joyful Reaction Becomes the Highlight
In SA20, fans have a chance to win a share of R2 million by taking a clean one-handed catch off a six during any match. At Centurion, two fans pulled off the catch and were instantly besieged by cameras and the crowd. One fan celebrated by hugging and kissing his partner after the catch. However, Ntini, caught up in the excitement, ran through the stands and jumped on the fan, unintentionally interrupting their private moment.

Adding to the humor, Ntini lost his balance and fell harmlessly to the ground. That moment was captured on camera, leaving commentators and fans laughing, while online reactions ranged from praise of his energy to jokes about the interrupted celebration.
On the field, the Joburg Super Kings posted a total of 168 runs. Pretoria Capitals fell short in the chase, scoring only 146 after Duan Jansen picked up an impressive four-wicket haul, handing his side a 22-run victory.
