West Indies cricket made another historic feat by handing over a debut cap to 18-year-old Jewel Andrew. Andrew has made his T20I debut at the age of 18 years and 236 days against Pakistan and became the youngest ever player to play for the West Indies in T20I.

The rise of the young keeper-batter is rapid and delicate. He was brought up in a sports-loving family in Antigua. Born on December 7, 2006, Jewel Andrew has been engaged with this sport from a very young age. He quickly made his presence felt through his aggressive batting style and advanced footwork. Before making his international debut, another landmark was touched by the emerging cricketer.

In 2024, the batter made his franchise cricket debut for Antigua and Barbuda Falcons in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) and etched his name as the youngest-ever CPL player and the second-youngest to score a fifty in a major T20 league.

Last year, Jewel got his ODI captaincy and is now graced with a T20I debut. In his first ever T20I match, the opener played 33 deliveries and scored 35 runs with one boundary and three over boundaries. Though, the West Indies was not able to defeat Pakistan at Central Broward Park & Broward County, Florida. Batting first, Pakistan scored 178 for 6, and WI got to post only 164/7 on the scoreboard. Pakistan won the match by 14 runs.
