The former Indian captain, MS Dhoni, is known for his incredible behavior of not using phones, even in this modern age. Various journalists and former players claimed that it was the hardest job to connect with the former player, who used to keep himself away from these things.

The first time Dhoni used the phone was when the BCCI provided him with a phone to have a discussion on the changes to the team while announcing the squad, given that he was the leader of the side. During a recent media interaction, the Ranchi-born revealed the secret of keeping himself away from the phones.

‘Not to avoid people. It’s just that I am very awkward talking on the phone, because I don’t see a face. I can’t see a reaction. I don’t know if the person wants to talk to me or doesn’t want to talk to me. Whether the topic I am talking about is liking him or disliking him. So I am an impersonal type. I like to have a face in front of me to the person I am talking to.’ Dhoni expressed during a recent event in Chennai.

‘You know, there is a genuine emotion. Apart from the words, when you look at someone while you are speaking, there comes a time when the words are not exchanged, but you are still communicating. And I always feel that it doesn’t happen over the phone. That’s one of the reasons I may be talking to you.’ The former captain of the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL added.

He shed light on how it would be important to go back to the old phone, where the receiver could just press the green button to talk and the red button to drop it. However, he also spoke about how hard it had been to do so in recent years.

‘But I hardly talk. I am not on the phone. With so much technology and information available on smartphones, it becomes very difficult. I think we should use old phones. Green and red buttons. You press, call, and keep it back.’ Dhoni concluded.
