Watch: “My 14 soldiers…”- Suryakumar Yadav reacts to struggling form ahead of T20 World Cup 2026
The T20I captain of the Indian cricket team, Suryakumar Yadav, has reacts to his struggling form heading into the next year's T20 World Cup 2026 in India and Sri Lanka during a recent interaction at GLS University.

Suryakumar Yadav, the T20I captain of the Indian cricket team, has finished 2025 with struggling form in the shortest format, as he didn’t celebrate a single half-century in that period. Even in the home South Africa series, he couldn’t get a bat on a ball and continued to get dismissed against the pacers.
In a recent video on social media where he was present at the GLS University, Suryakumar Yadav shed light on how he has learnt different lessons from the game, besides addressing how his 14 soldiers (the teammates) would always be there to save him in difficult times.

“According to me, sport teaches you a lot, and in every sportsperson's career, there is a time when you feel it is a learning stage, so it is that learning stage for me. But my 14 soldiers are covering it for me. They know that when I blast, what will happen then. I am sure all of you will be like that as well. If we do not get good marks, we do not stop studying.” Suryakumar Yadav expressed in the video.

At the end of their 3-1 series victory against the Proteas, Sky admitted that despite the superb all-round performance, they kept finding Surya the batter throughout the series. But he feels that with five games at home against New Zealand and a couple of warm-up clashes awaiting, he hopes to get back in full form.

“We did almost everything we wanted to. Maybe the only thing we couldn’t quite manage was finding “Surya the batter.” I think he went missing somewhere! But he’ll be back stronger. As a team, I’m really happy. Whenever we were in trouble, someone always put their hand up and pulled us through. As captain, that’s very satisfying.” Sky noted.
“From the start of the series, we wanted to stick to a particular brand of cricket, and we did exactly that. We didn’t try to do anything different. We wanted to express ourselves in all departments, and the results are right there in front of everyone.” The Mumbai-born shed light.
