Watch the video where the left-arm pacer of the South Africa side, Nandre Burger, dismissed the Indian opening batter, Rohit Sharma, for 14 during the second ODI against South Africa in Raipur.
The former Indian captain of the ODI format, Rohit Sharma, looked in decent touch during the opening game of the series against South Africa with the help of 57 runs in 51 balls as he clubbed three sixes in that knock to break the long-time record of Shahid Afridi to now bag 352 over boundaries. But he couldn’t continue the same form during the second affair at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur.
With Yashasvi Jaiswal taking charge of the two new ball bowlers of the Protea side, Rohit didn’t get a great chance in the middle to face the bowlers. He got a soft boundary on the first ball of the fifth over as the angled delivery took the outside edge and raced into the third man region for a four.

On the following delivery, the Nagpur-born elegantly flicked the ball from Nandre Burger into the mid-wicket region for the same result. The ball dribbled away to the fence as he got another outside edge behind the stumps for the third successive boundary.

But Burger had the last laugh in the innings as the fifth ball of the over took the outside edge of Rohit Sharma. The Mumbai batter pushed his blade towards the ball, and the angled bat grabbed the edge of the length delivery. The wicket-keeper, Quinton de Kock, was superbly confident as the Proteas decided to challenge the on-field not-out decision.
The review confirmed a small spike on the bat as Rohit Sharma went back to the hut for 14 runs in just eight deliveries with the help of three boundaries at a strike rate of 175. Burger, despite that success, had figures of 1/34 in his four overs of the opening spell.
Virat Kohli, fresh from his 135-run knock in 120 deliveries, walked at number three in the line-up and pulled the short ball from Burger into the deep square leg region for a massive six. India reached 53/1 at the end of seven overs.
