For Oman, the last group-stage clash against India in the Asia Cup 2025 at the Sheik Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi was another chance to show their skills and learn a few things in all three departments of the game. Their participation in the event had already ended after their two defeats in the tournament against Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
By the time Oman’s captain, Jatinder Singh, walked out to reveal his team changes at the toss, India’s Suryakumar Yadav had already forgotten his team changes at the toss, to which he compared himself with the former Indian captain, Rohit Sharma, in terms of forgetting the team changes of the playing eleven. But the same happened with Oman’s captain.
“Our team is young and lacks exposure, but this gives them a good chance to come here and test themselves. It is a great opportunity to share the field with India and get a look at their mindset. We have two changes."- Jatinder Singh couldn’t remember the second change.

Oman ended up making two changes in their playing eleven, as Mohammed Nadeem and Zikria Islam came into the side in place of Wasim Ali and Hasnain Shah. For India, Jasprit Bumrah and Varun Chakravarthy got deserving breaks as they look to prepare themselves for the upcoming clash of the Super 4 stage against Pakistan.
“We want to continue the good habits we are doing in the first two games and want to continue to do that. It is looking nice, and our openers will assess it further. We have two changes - Harshit comes in, one more guy comes in, I have become like Rohit.” Sky revealed at the toss.
Abhishek Sharma got saved from getting dismissed on the very first ball of the innings against Shakeel Ahmed before Shubman Gill drilled a fine boundary over the long-off fielder as they got six runs without any loss after the end of the opening over. The game’s margin isn’t expected to have any effect on the points table.
