A Pakistani fan was seen singing the Indian national anthem, Jana Gana Mana, before the India vs Pakistan match in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Sunday, February 15.
The match had some controversy before it started, as Pakistan had earlier refused to play. However, the issue was later resolved, and the match took place. India went on to win the game by 61 runs against their long-time rivals.
As is common in international tournaments, the national anthems of both teams are played before the match begins. Even though relations between the two countries are tense, the fan drew attention for singing India’s national anthem. He also recorded the video and shared it on social media, where it quickly went viral.

Pakistan Opt to Bowl First in Crucial Clash
Notably, the Men in Green chose to bowl first after winning the toss in Colombo in this important match, where their Super Eights qualification was at stake. They started very well by dismissing Abhishek Sharma for a duck in the first over. He was out to an off-spin delivery from captain Salman Ali Agha. But after that, things did not go as Pakistan had planned.
Ishan Kishan, the other opener, played an attacking innings. He scored 77 runs from just 40 balls, hitting 10 fours and three sixes. Suryakumar Yadav added an important 32 runs under pressure. Shivam Dube also scored 27 runs from 17 balls at the end. India finished with 175/6 in their 20 overs.
Pakistan’s Chase Falls Apart Under Pressure
Pakistan’s reply was disappointing. Farhan was caught by Rinku Singh on the fourth ball of the innings off Hardik Pandya. In the next over, Jasprit Bumrah took two wickets, dismissing Saim Ayub and the Pakistan captain.
Babar Azam and Usman Khan tried to build a partnership, but it was not enough. Axar Patel took both their wickets in back-to-back overs. Pakistan could not recover after that and fell short in the chase.
