The former Indian captain, Sachin Tendulkar, has praised the opening Test batter of the side, KL Rahul, after the latter’s impressive batting performance at the opening position in England. The Bengaluru-born celebrated a century during the opening Headingley Test before getting into the honours board during the third fixture at Lord’s.

Tendulkar explained how KL Rahul was organized with his footwork in the seven weeks in the United Kingdom, as he left the balls outside the off-stump with a composed mindset and pushed the opposition to change their plans.

“I thought this was possibly the best I have seen KL Raul bat. The way he was defending the balls close to the body or leaving the ball, he was so organized. He knew his off-stump and left the balls from the line. I also got a view that he could easily frustrate the bowlers. He got the bowlers to come back to him on many occasions.Tendulkar spoke in a recent video.

Rahul ended the series as the third leading run-getter of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025 with 532 runs in 10 innings at an average of 53.20 and a strike rate of just under 50. Tendulkar shed light on how the Ben Stokes-led side put a leg slip from the second Edgbaston Test.

“The bat he has batted throughout the series with a century in the first and third Test, I enjoyed that. He looked in that calm and composed zone, and his footwork was organized. If you notice, in the first Test, Chris Woakes was bowling on the fourth and fifth stump line to Rahul, but in the second Test, there was a leg slip with the wide fine leg. That was an indication to me that Rahul pushed England to change their game plan. The Mumbai-born expressed.

That’s where you win the battle, because you force the opposition to change their plan. That’s where you 1-0 up. There were a few innings where he was on and off, but that’s totally part of the game. All in all, if I have to talk about both the openers, then they were fabulous throughout the series.Sachin Tendulkar addressed during the video.
