An emotional moment for Priya Saroj, the Samajwadi party leader and a member of Parliament, who got engaged to Indian cricketer Rinku Singh at The Centrum in Lucknow on Sunday, June 8.

The video of the auspicious moment is now on the internet, and there, netizens can see how Saroj got emotional when Singh placed the ring on her finger. She couldn't hold back her tears, tears of joy.

Several eminent personalities from the political and cricketing world attended the ceremony to make the evening more special for the couple. Congress leader and BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla, Samajwadi Party president and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, actress and politician Jaya Bachchan, former players Praveen Kumar and Piyush Chawla, and Uttar Pradesh Ranji captain Aryan Juyal graced the moment with their presence.

The profile of the newly engaged couple

Priya Saroj, the SP leader, represents the Machhlishahr constituency in Jaunpur, holding a Bachelor of Arts degree from Delhi University and later pursuing a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from Amity University.

On the other hand, Rinku Singh had an underwhelming season with Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2025. The defending champion was unable to find a spot in the playoffs and ended their campaign with 12 points from 14 matches. Rinku himself scored only 206 runs across 11 innings with a strike rate of 153.73. Overall, the middle batter throughout his Indian Premier League career got 1,099 runs at an average of 30.52 and a strike rate of 145.17, powered by four 50s. Unbeaten 67 so far is his highest score, which came against Lucknow Super Giants, playing 33 balls in the 2023 season.
