The Ranji Trophy 2025/26 final got heated in an engagement during the second day’s play at the KSCA Hubli Cricket Ground when Jammu and Kashmir’s captain, Paras Dogra, lost his temper and headbutted the substitute fielder of the Karnataka side, which triggered a heated exchange and forced the umpires to step in.

The flashpoint came in the 101st over of the batting of the J&K side, when Paras Dogra was batting alongside Kanhaiya Wadhawan during the crucial partnership. After edging a delivery from Prasidh Krishna for a boundary, Dogra exchanged words with substitute fielder KV Aneesh, who was stationed at the forward short leg region.

As the verbal duel escalated, Dogra charged at Aneesh and headbutted him with his helmet. The shocking act stunned the players as the former captain of the Karnataka side, Mayank Agarwal, quickly intervened to defuse the situation while umpires rushed in to get the order in the right state. Dogra apologized at the end of the over, but Aneesh refused to accept it, which saw him remaining visibly upset.
