Watch: Ravichandran Ashwin credits this behind Rohit Sharma turning into six-hitting player
Watch the video where the former spin all-rounder of the Indian cricket team, Ravichandran Ashwin, credited this member for turning their opener, Rohit Sharma, into a hit-hitting player in the last couple of years.

During the opening ODI of the three-match series against South Africa at the JSCA International Cricket Complex in Ranchi, India’s former captain, Rohit Sharma, overtook Shahid Afridi to notch up the most sixes (352) in ODI cricket as he smashed three sixes during his knock of 57 runs in just 51 balls.
The former Indian spin all-rounder, Ravichandran Ashwin, has highlighted how Rohit has transformed himself into a six-hitting monster in the last few years. He also reckoned that the first change for the veteran came when he scored his first double-century against Australia in Bengaluru.

“Regarding Rohit Sharma, I want to talk about Rohit the captain and Rohit the changed player. If you see the first 30-40 ODIs of Rohit Sharma, he wasn’t a six-hitting monster, which he has become at the moment. He beat Shahid Afridi with 350+ sixes. That’s not a mean achievement. Pakistan brought Afridi as the six-hitting machine in the ODI scene. Rohit has surpassed that.” Ashwin expressed on his YouTube channel.

Ashwin reflected that since Rahul Dravid became the head coach of the Blue Brigade, Rohit improved his sixes per ball as he became more aggressive and kept nailing every delivery after a few overs. That has transformed the Indian team to play in a certain way.
“In the first 30-40 ODIs, Rohit never hit that many sixes. But later, since he smashed that 200 against Australia all those years ago, his balls per six is 27. But even since he became the captain of the white-ball side, his ball per sixes is 17. So, that’s the greatest example. So, as I always say, Rohit has shown his stand as captain by showing the team his contribution.” Ashwin shed light in the video.
“The transitional batting that India have gone through in T20 cricket and even in ODI cricket, the way we bat at a rapid pace- for that a lot of credit should go to both Rohit and Rahul Dravid. They showed the way, paved the way, and eventually it transformed the way India followed,” India’s former spin all-rounder concluded.
