Heated chats and physical altercations have already been a part and parcel of the third Test between England and India at Lord’s. It started from Shubman Gill and the entire Indian side going after Zak Crawley late on the third evening when the opening batter delayed batting the one over. Then it carried forward to Mohammed Siraj and Ben Duckett getting into shoulder charging on the fourth morning.

Towards the end of the fourth day of the fixture, the England players went after the visiting captain. On the other hand, when Akash Deep came as the nightwatchman, they kept shouting at the bowler. Later, on the fifth day, it was between Brydon Carse and Ravindra Jadeja, while the latter charged into the bowler while running between the wickets.

It was the last ball of the 35th over of the fourth innings. Jadeja just drove Carse through the square and started to run for the single. The southpaw was keeping an eye on the ball while Carse was also doing the same. And the accident happened eventually. Jadeja brushed into Carse, who was about to catch the all-rounder on his neck.

Even after the umpires called for lunch, the words kept on being exchanged between the two players. The Saurashtra all-rounder, rightly, pointed out that he was always keeping an eye on the ball while the bowler was on his way. Ben Stokes, the England captain, came between them to stop the matter and calm things down.

The umpires also had a word. It wasn’t a happy morning for India. They lost Rishabh Pant early in the day with a beautiful nip-backer that crashed into the stumps. KL Rahul also couldn’t read the in-swinging delivery and was hit on the pads as he was trying to keep the bat before the pad.

Washington Sundar, who manifested an Indian win just after the lunch break, went back to the hut after a brutal return catch by Jofra Archer off his bowling. Nitish Reddy and Jadeja put up a good fight for a long time, but it didn’t last long as the right-handed batter got an outside edge on the stroke of lunch.
