India made their way to 159 runs for the loss of five wickets during their T20 World Cup 2026 clash at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo against Pakistan in 19 overs, and they needed someone to put the foot on the accelerator to give them the cushion of an extra 10 to 15 runs with the ball, heading into the second innings of the fixture.

Rinku Singh made his way into the middle with seven balls to spare in the Indian innings as he thumped the third delivery of the last over for a boundary against a left-arm pacer of the Pakistan side, Shaheen Shah Afridi. It was a slower delivery in the wicket as the batter set up and had a lot of width. The southpaw went for a slap with one hand and sliced it over the backward point region for a boundary.

On the very next delivery, Afridi offered another delivery on the slot to the left-handed batter as he went under it and clubbed it high and handsome over the mid-wicket region for a massive six to get them to the 175 run mark.

India did not make a great start with the bat as they lost their aggressive left-handed opening batter Abhishek Sharma for a four-ball duck in the very first over before Ishan Kishan gloriously smashed a superb knock of 77 runs in 40 balls with the help of 10 boundaries and three sixes at a strike rate of 192.50.

India’s middle order struggled a bit with Tilak Varma scoring 25 runs in 24 balls with the help of two boundaries and one six, while the captain, Suryakumar Yadav, scored 32 runs in 29 deliveries with the help of three boundaries.

Pakistan made a nightmare start in the chase as they lost three wickets in two overs, including their informed opener, Saim Ayub, and the captain, Salman Agha, both of whom went back to the dressing room again, to Jasprit Bumrah in the very second over.

Brief Scores: India 175/7 (Ishan Kishan 77, Suryakumar Kumar 32. Saim Ayub 3/25) vs Pakistan 55/4 (Usman Khan 30*, Jasprit Bumrah 2/17)
