A funny interaction took place during the mid-innings of the second ODI between India and South Africa at the Shaheed Veer Narayan International Cricket Stadium when Risabh Pant, not featuring in the contest, found a unique method to surprise Rohit Sharma, who was standing by the advertisement board and was preparing himself for the second innings.

Rishabh Pant took a pupil hair from Rohit’s eyes and put it on the back of the opening batter’s hands and asked him to look for a wish. Rohit did that exactly as it’s the old way of people calling their wish. The Nagpur-born, who smashed a fine half-century during the opening clash of the series at the JSCA stadium in Ranchi, didn’t enjoy his time in the second affair.

Rohit ended up with 14 runs in just eight balls during the second game in Raipur with the help of three boundaries. The Mumbai batter looked decent to get those three boundaries in successive balls before nicking an outside edge into the hands of the wicket-keeper.

During the mid-innings break, Rohit was busy in unveiling the new jersey for the Indian side ahead of the T20 World Cup 2026 in India and Sri Lanka. The Mumbai batter wished all the best for the Suryakumar Yadav-led side heading into the event.

“It’s been a long journey. We won our first World Cup in 2007, and we had to wait more than 15 years to win the next one. It’s been a long road with plenty of ups and downs, but it felt great to lift the trophy again. Now, with the World Cup happening in India, it’s going to be an exciting tournament.” Rohit Sharma expressed in the program.

Thanks to the twin centuries from Virat Kohli and Ruturaj Gaikwad in the middle along with a fine unbeaten knock of 66 runs from stand-in captain, KL Rahul, India were able to cross the 350-run mark in the first innings during their allotted 50 overs.
