[Watch]: Rishabh Pant Returns to Wicketkeeping Practice Ahead of Crucial 4th Test vs England

The Indian team is currently trailing 1-2 in the Test series against England. The fourth match of the five-match series will be played at Emirates Old Trafford in Manchester, starting Wednesday, July 23.

Before the match, there is good news for Team India — star wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant has started practising wicketkeeping again.

Pant had injured his left index finger during the second session on Day 1 of the Lord’s Test. After that, he did not keep wickets for the rest of the match. Dhruv Jurel took over as the wicketkeeper. However, Pant still batted in both innings, scoring 74 and 9 runs. Despite his efforts, India lost the match by 22 runs while chasing a target of 193.

Pant Starts Wicketkeeping Practice Before 4th Test

Before the fourth Test between India and England on July 23 in Manchester, Rishabh Pant was seen doing wicketkeeping practice. This is good news for Team India. Pant had injured his finger in the Lord’s Test and did not keep wickets in that match.

During the practice, Pant wore gloves again. KL Rahul, Karun Nair, Shubman Gill, and Sai Sudharsan were standing in the slips. If Pant is fully fit, he may take the wicketkeeping role again. This means Dhruv Jurel may not be needed.

Pant’s Injury and Good Form

Pant got hurt during the first innings of the Lord’s Test. He injured the index finger of his left hand while trying to stop a ball from Jasprit Bumrah. After that, he did not do wicketkeeping but still batted in both innings. He scored 74 and 9 runs.

Pant is in great form in this Test series. In 3 matches and 6 innings, he has scored 425 runs with an average of 78.41. He will be an important player for India in the Manchester Test, and fans will expect a big innings from him.
