India’s ODI captain, Rohit Sharma, and their opening batter of the longest format, KL Rahul, were in Bengaluru a few days ago at the BCCI Centre of Excellence to prepare themselves for the packed home series of white-ball and red-ball games. The former hasn’t taken the field since the second qualifier of the IPL 2025, while Rahul’s last game was the fifth Test in South London.
During the five-match Test series in the United Kingdom, KL Rahul was in great touch with consistent runs under his belt. He will look to prepare himself for the upcoming two-match Test series at home against the West Indies before they have the same challenge against South Africa.
Rohit, on the other hand, will look to be back in form and rhythm, having already taken retirement from the longest and shortest formats of the game. He needs to be fully prepared for the upcoming 50-over series against Australia down under, which will begin in the third week of October.

A clip of these two veterans went viral, where they were seen to be out in the nets in Bengaluru ahead of their upcoming international assignments. Rohit had a fantastic tournament in the Champions Trophy 2025, where he smashed 180 runs in five outings and was awarded player of the match for 76 runs off 83 balls against New Zealand in the final.
Rohit will be a vital member of the national side in the opening spot. He batted so well with aggression. Along with him, the focus will also be on Virat Kohli, whose last fixture in the field came in the IPL 2025 final that they won for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru against the Punjab Kings. Both are expected to do the Indian jersey in the same series down under.
Currently, India is busy in the ongoing 2025 season of the Asia Cup in the United Arab Emirates. With an unbeaten campaign, they qualified for the Super Four stage of the tournament.
