Watch: Rohit Sharma returns for golden duck during Mumbai vs Uttarakhand in VHT 2025/26
The current veteran opening batter of the Indian side, Rohit Sharma, returned for a first-ball duck during the contest between Mumbai and Uttarakhand in the Vijay Hazare Trophy (VHT) 2025/26.

Two days ago, India’s former captain and the current veteran opening batter, Rohit Sharma, enjoyed his return to the domestic 50-over event with a cracking knock of 155 runs to win the contest against Sikkim. The crowd at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur was vocal throughout the entire knock as the Nagpur-born batter showed his form amidst various calls ahead of the 2027 ODI World Cup.
Rohit has already retired from the shortest format, following India's victory in the T20 World Cup 2024 in the West Indies and the United States of America, before taking a break from the longest format during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 in May. Now, his sole focus remains on the ODI World Cup and breaking the jinx for the country for 16 years.

Meanwhile, on his return home for the three-match series against South Africa, Rohit smashed a fine half-century in the opening fixture in Ranchi before completing another aggressive fifty in the deciding fixture in Vizag as the hosts completed a 2-1 series victory against the Proteas.
The Mumbai batter isn’t expected to play another game of the tournament and may return for another clash if he wants ahead of the three-match home ODI series against New Zealand, beginning on January 11. That will be the last series for the right-handed batter before the IPL 2026, after which they face England in the next ODI series.
