A real soft dismissal of Rohit Sharma in the India vs. New Zealand 3rd ODI match at the Holkar Stadium in Indore. Sharma and Captain Shubman Gill walked into the ground with bats to provide Team India a much-needed solid start to offer New Zealand tough competition.
It is a must-win match for the hosts, as the 3-match scoreline reads 1-1 after the second match in Rajkot. The winner of the last match of the ODI series will take home the trophy. India chose to bowl first after winning the toss. With the new ball, Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana damaged the top order of New Zealand soon.
But the centuries from Daryl Mitchell and Glenn Phillips change the whole complexion. New Zealand registered 337/8 in 50 overs; India has to score 338 runs to win the match and the series as well. In this scenario, Sharma, the experienced batter and former captain, stepped into the field with a lot of expectations and responsibilities on his shoulders. Under pressure, the right-handed batter was not looking in his best touch. He could have lost his wicket earlier if New Zealand had been able to utilize the chance.

But that did not harm them in a broad way, as the Indian opener departed after scoring only 11 in 13 balls. He went to clear the circle with a flick but ended in a catch out. For the sixth delivery of the fourth over, Zakary Foulkes angled the ball into the pads of Sharma on a good length.
Rohit brought his bat out in front and set up to play the aerial flick over the mid-wicket area. The ball appears to have stopped on him, and Rohit ended up spooning a simple catch to mid-on, where Kristian Clarke did the rest of the work. A huge blow for India.
