Watch: Rohit Sharma trapped LBW off Marco Jansen for 57 during IND vs SA 1st ODI in Ranchi
Watch the video where the opening batter of the Indian cricket team, Rohit Sharma, was trapped LBW off Marco Jansen for 57 during the 1st ODI against South Africa in Ranchi.

Rohit Sharma, the former captain and opening batter of the Indian side in the ODI format, was back in India in the international cricket for the very first time since making his retirement from the Test format earlier during the IPL 2025 ahead of the England tour. Rohit was in superb touch with one fifty and century.
Rohit looked in supreme touch with the bat in the innings as he smashed some massive shots around the park from the beginning against the new ball inside the powerplay. The Nagpur-born smashed the pacers and spinners around the park and registered a fine partnership of 136 runs for the second wicket with Virat Kohli.

There was no bad shot from the opening batter before he was dismissed for 57 runs in 51 balls against Marco Jansen as the ball stayed low from the lanky pacer. It was a back of a length delivery that didn’t bounce a lot and beat the batter on the pull and stuck on the back-thigh as the impact was in front of the off stump to dismiss the batter.

Rohit was excellent in the knock against all the bowlers. He smashed the off-spinner of the Protea side, Prenelan Subrayen, for two successive sixes around the park. In the innings, Rohit drilled five boundaries and three sixes at a strike rate of 111.76. With the first six, he smashed his 350th over boundary in the ODI format before equaling the record of the former captain and all-rounder of Pakistan, Shahid Afridi, before crossing the all-rounder and now has 352 over boundaries.
In 33 overs, India made their way to 214/4 as Virat Kohli was unbeaten on 92 runs in 88 balls with the help of five boundaries and five sixes at a striker rate of 104.55.
