The Netherlands came into their second encounter of the T20 World Cup 2026 with lots of promise as they faced a nervy defeat in their first game against Pakistan. They were locked horns with Namibia at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi and decided to bowl first on a surface which they reckoned would be easy to chase in the afternoon under the full effect of the sun.

Namibia didn’t get a great performance from their batting unit before Ruben Trumpelmann lifted their spirit and energy with a fine shot in the penultimate over of the innings. On the first ball of the 19th over, the right-handed batter gave his entire power and connected the full-length delivery against Bas de Leede, and connected it off the meat of the bat.

The ball sailed over the cow corner region and traveled for a massive distance of 92 meters as Namibia got some lift towards the end of their innings. However, they would not be happy with their score of 156/8 in their allotted 20 overs of the innings.

Namibia didn’t get a great start in the game as they lost their opener, Louren Steenkamp, in the third over of the first innings before a 50-run partnership gave them some momentum in the batting. Their captain, Gerhard Erasmus, smashed a nine-ball 18-run knock at number four before JJ Smit dashed 22 runs in 15 balls.

But that wasn’t enough at all for the side as they kept losing wickets regularly in the innings. Bas de Leede and Logan van Beek ended up with a combined bowling figure of 4/33 in six overs of the innings while Aryan Dutt, opening the bowling, collected 1/13 in three overs.

The Netherlands lost their opener, Max Odowd, early in the chase for seven runs in eight balls, while Michael Levitt smashed a fine six to get his innings underway. He looked in good touch in their previous clash against Pakistan in Colombo (SSC).

Brief Score: Namibia 156/8 (Jan Nicol 42, Jan Frylinck 30, Logan van Beek 2/13) vs Netherlands 32/1 (Michael Levitt 22*, Benard Scholtz 1/15)
