A bizarre incident occurred during Australia's One Day Cup match between WA and Victoria at the WACA Stadium in Perth, where the audience got to witness an unusual six by a batter. On February 21, during the run chase, the WA batter, Sam Fanning, left a ball but ended up getting a six off the delivery behind the stumps as the ball flew over the ropes.

During the left-handed batter came to bat during their chase of 230 runs, when the right-arm pacer, Cameron McClure, left the ball, it got deflected and went straight out of the boundary rope with no fielder inside to stop the delivery. The incident happened on the fourth delivery of the first over as the batter opened the innings for his side and was on strike for the fourth delivery of the over.

Sam Fanning did not offer a shot and left delivery as the ball hit the back part of his bat and flew over the gatekeeper for the six, as it was one of the most surprising ways for the batter to smash a six before he was dismissed for 31 runs in 38 balls by Mitchell Perry. Notably, that was his only six of the innings.

Victoria got restricted to 213 runs in their allotted 50 overs for the loss of nine wickets as their number three, Campbell Kellaway, scored 105 runs in 117 deliveries. However, apart from the number three batter, none of the batting lineup stood up for a strong contribution.

Western Australia completed the innings in less than 40 overs with eight wickets in hand as the wicket keeper, Joel Curtis, played a fantastic knock of 91 runs in 83 deliveries with the help of nine boundaries and two sixes extracted for more than 100.

Despite the victory, Western Australia has failed to make it to the final of the tournament as Tasmania and New South Wales will meet for the summit clash on March 11 at the Bellerive Oval in Hobart.

Brief Scores: WA 233/2 (Joel Curtis 91, Cameron Bancroft 70*, Mitchell Perry 1/22) beat Victoria 230/9 (Campbell Kellaway 105, Bryce Jackson 4/40) by 8-wickets.
