WATCH: Sanju Samson unleashes six-hitting fury against Namibia in T20 World Cup 2026

India's opening batter Sanju Samson made his way back into the playing XI in the absence of Abhishek Sharma in the 18th match of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026. The star batter started his innings with a six, and then went on to surprise the crowd with two more sixes. Overall, he hit three consecutive sixes and then a boundary. 

He got his dream start in the ongoing World Cup, but like always, failed to convert the start. After scoring 22 off 8 balls, he was dismissed by Ben Shikongo in the same over. The bowler got his revenge, leaving the batter in shock. For the unversed, the right-handed batter opened the innings with Abhishek Sharma in the New Zealand series. 

But, keeping his current form in mind, the management decided to drop him from the side and asked Ishan Kishan to open the innings. Ahead of the Namibia clash, Abhishek got injured, and Samson made his way back into the team, but failed to impress with his performance.

Ishan Kishan scores 28 runs in one over against Namibia

After coming back to the Indian team after two years and two months, Ishan Kishan has not missed a single opportunity to impress the crowd with his performance. He has produced some of the best knocks in the recent series and has now scored a half-century in 20 balls. 

He also scored 28 runs in an over, scoring four sixes and one boundary. Kishan is in incredible form and has kept the crowd entertained. But he was dismissed by Gerhard Erasmus on 61 off 24 balls, including six boundaries and five sixes.

Thanks to his performance, India got off to a good start, and as we write, they have scored 105 runs in eight overs. Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma are on the crease and will be looking forward to putting up 250+ runs on the board.
