Watch Scott Boland celebrates hat-trick against the West Indies during the 3rd Test in Jamaica.

After the 400-Test wickets’ celebration from the left-arm Australian fast bowler, Mitchell Starc, the entire focus, expectedly, was on him as no one predicted another huge moment taking place in the game towards the fag end. But it happened in the hands of Scott Boland, whose inclusion in this game was a huge call, replacing the veteran and lone spinner, Nathan Lyon.
Boland enjoyed the first innings of bowling with the pink ball, finishing with figures of 3/34 in 13.1 overs with four maidens at an economy rate of under three. But late on the third evening of their victory by 176 runs at the Sabina Park in Jamaica, the right-arm pacer showed his incredible skill of hitting the right line and length for a long time.

It started on the very first ball of the 14th over. The ball was pitched on the length, and it came angling inwards outside off stump as the pacer got some seam movement off the deck. Juston Greaves, the batter, had no clue of how to tackle the challenge as he was squared up and got an outside edge into the hands of the slip fielder.

The very next delivery was a simple one. This was also on the length from round the wicket as it pitched outside the off stump and angled in sharply. Shamar Joseph, the number nine, was beaten on the inside edge under the floodlights as the ball thudded on the flap of the back pad. The umpire didn’t raise his finger straightaway, but a successful review from captain Pat Cummins had Boland take two successive wickets.

For the hat-trick ball, the field was more attacking with five slips, a short leg, and a leg gully. Everyone was closing in on the batter. Jamiel Warrican just showed the straight bat, as the ball pitched on the off-stump and held its line to go through the huge gap between bat and pad to crash into the stumps of the right-handed batter.
It was a hat-trick for the Victorian, who finished with an incredible figure of 3/2 in two overs as the home side got bundled out for 27 runs.
Scott Boland now has stretched his red-ball tally to 62 wickets in 14 games at an average of under 16 and a strike rate of 36, thanks to two five-wicket hauls.
