India’s second encounter of the T20 World Cup 2026 campaign was about restoring their batting performance, which had struggled so much against the United States of America. But their batting show against Namibia at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi could have been divided into two halves of the powerplay and the middle overs, as the blue brigade struggled in the latter.

To break free, they needed someone to smash a massive shot, and Shivam Dube did the honours by putting Bernard Scholtz into the stands for a massive 107-meter six. It was darted into the stumps by the left-arm spinner as the left-handed batter whacked the pull over the mid-wicket region for a massive six.

Hardik Pandya joined the party on the other hand as he clubbed the third ball of the same over for a 109-meter six as India made a strong comeback in the game. They didn’t get the vital boundaries against the Namibia spinners in the middle overs, which snatched the momentum for a moment.

Earlier in the innings, Sanju Samson provided India a strong start with 22 runs in just eight balls with the help of one boundary and three sixes at a strike rate of 275, while Ishan Kishan celebrated a 20-ball half-century. The left-handed batter drilled 61 runs in 24 balls, shouldering on five sixes and four boundaries at a strike rate of 254.17.

Hardik looked in a different mood during the middle overs and the death phase. The right-handed batter smashed Ben Shikongo for one six and two consecutive fours in the 16th over of the innings to put the hard work of the Namibia side at bay. Certainly, a score of under 200 looked to be reaching 250.

For Namibia, their captain, Gerhard Erasmus, bowled smartly, using his variations as he ended with two wickets in his three overs for 13 runs at an economy rate of 4.33. He dismissed Kishan and the number three batter, Tilak Varma.

Brief Scores: India 199/4 (Ishan Kishan 61, Hardik Pandya 46*, Gerhard Erasmus 2/13)
