The T20 World Cup 2026 clash betwen South Africa and Afghanistan, which was tied and then went into the first super over, at t the Narendra Modi Stadium, saw the Proteas winning the contest finally in the second super over.

As if 40 overs are not enough for the result of the game, the encounter went to the first super-over, which saw the game moving into the second super-over, and the same picture took place during the clash between South Africa and Afghanistan of the T20 World Cup 2026 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
After the drawn first super-over of the contest, the action moved to the second super-over. On the first ball of the over, Tristan Stubbs smashed the first delivery from Azmatullah Omarzai for a massive six over the deep mid-wicket. Fazalhaq Farooqi wasn’t available to bowl due to bowling the first super over.

After a single and a double on the next two deliveries, the fourth ball was put into the stands by David Miller. It was an off-pace length delivery on the off-stump, as David Miller went forward and picked the bones out of this. He swung his willow into the leg side, and it sailed away over the deep mid-wicket. The fifth delivery was put into the stand as the Proteas finished with 23/0 in those six balls.

For the Afghanistan side, Mohammad Nabi and Omarzai made their way into the middle. The Proteas gave the responsibility to Keshav Maharaj, who had the pressure on his shoulders. The first ball, wide of the right-handed batter, was a mistimed shot into the hands of the point fielder, David Miller.
Rahmanullah Gurbaz made his way into the middle after the dismissal. The first delivery was smashed over the bowler’s head as the right-handed batter made his way into the backfoot. The very next delivery was clubbed down the ground for another six.

Maharaj decided to fire it down to the legs of Gurbaz, who made room and nailed his way to another six as the margin came down to six runs required in the last ball. The upcoming ball was a wide one, after which Gurbaz was yorked into the hands of the point fielder to see the Proteas earn the victory in the second super over.
First super over in SA vs AFG ends in tied result
The first super over saw Azmatullah Omazai smashing Lungi Ngidi over the straight down the ground for a massive six as the leaping fielder couldn't keep the ball inside the field while he sliced another delivery where Rabada failed to keep the ball inside the boundary rope which gave the Afghans a strong belief.
Later, the Proteas started with a single before Dewald Brevis pulled Fazalhaq Farooqi for a fine six. But the left-arm pacer made a strong comeback to dismiss the right-handed batter with a slower delivery. He bowled another great delivery to the fifth ball, but Trsitan Stubbs' last ball six demolished all of his good works.
