Earlier during the toss, the same incident happened when Suryakumar decided not to shake hands with Salman Ali Agha after the latter won the toss and decided to bowl first. It happened due to the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, where many innocent people lost their lives. There were calls to boycott the game on social media, even though the Sports Ministry gave the green light.
The three quality spinners of the Blue Brigade, Kuldeep Yadav, Varun Chakravarthy, and Axar Patel shared a fine bowling figure of 6/60 between them in 12 overs at an economy rate of five. Apart from Shaheen Shah Afridi’s unbeaten knock of 33 runs, no Pakistan batter stood in the middle for a long period as they posted 127/9 in their allotted 20 overs.
During the chase, Abhishek Sharma took India off to a flying start with 31 runs in 13 balls at a strike rate of 238.46 before the leader clubbed 47 runs. Tilak Verma also scored 31 runs at a run-a-ball. India’s last encounter of the event will take place on September 19 against Oman in Abu Dhabi.
