The Indian T20I captain, Suryakumar Yadav, has opened up on their bold and fearless approach with the bat during the 2025 season of the Asia Cup as they went on to win their ninth title of the event. For the entire competition, the Blue Brigade continued to show the same aggression with the blade from the start to the end.

Suryakumar explained that India's openers always get the free hand to go out in the middle and enjoy their desired style of play. But he also pointed out how if they lose wickets, their batters know how to build the innings and go according to the situation.

“In my understanding, I think, if a particular player has got the recognition by a particular style of play, then they shouldn’t change it. But openers always get the free license in this format to go out and enjoy how they want to play. And then when the batting starts from number three or four, you start to adjust to the situation and you bat accordingly.” Suryakumar expressed during a recent interaction on Star Sports.

Sky also shed light on how they know the difference in situations. He gave an example of how they would be able to chase down the targets of 150 to 160, even if they find themselves 20/3, while from 100/1, they know how to accelerate to 220+ scores.

“Later, you go according to the tempo of the game. If it’s 100/1 and you need to smash from the very first ball, then you can attack. However, in this Asia Cup, the wickets were a little challenging, and whenever you lose two or three wickets quickly, you need to have the game to continue building the innings.” The Mumbai-born addressed.

“If you are 20/3 or 100/1, then you can’t go through the same batting. You need to read the game and bat. So, our players are well-equipped for these situations. If you are 20/3, they know how they could chase down the target of 150 or 160; and if they are on 100/1, they know how to make 220 or 230.” Suryakumar Yadav concluded.
