On the penultimate day of 2025, India’s T20I captain, Suryakumar Yadav, appeared in the Sri Venkateshwara Swamy Temple in Tirumala, Tirupati, with his wife on the occasion of Vaikunta Ekadashi. The crowd was massive around the star Indian batter as the security guards tried their best to keep them away from the duo, with the video going viral on social media platforms.

Suryakumar Yadav has been phenomenal with the bat in 93 innings of the shortest format with 2788 runs at an average of 35.29 and a strike rate of 163.23, with the help of four centuries and 21 half-centuries at the best score of 117. The Indian right-handed batter recorded 251 boundaries and 155 sixes.

In the last 22 innings of the T20Is, Sky is yet to register a half-century in T20Is, having accumulated 244 runs at a modest average of 12.84 and a strike rate of 117.84, which underlined the depth of his prolonged slump.

Since the beginning of 2025, the Mumbai batter has managed only 125 T20I runs in 114 balls against the pacers in 18 innings, averaging 8.3 and striking at 109.6, with 15 dismissals, and a dot ball percentage of 52.60. His average goes north to 92 with a strike rate of 148.4, thanks to only one dismissal in nine innings.

On the other hand, against the right-arm pacers, he has scored only 118 runs at an average of under 10, as he has been dismissed 12 times out of 17, at a strike rate of 126.90. It marks a new phase of struggle in Surya’s career. In 2023, he averaged 35.6 against the Pacers in T20Is.

He smashed 463 runs at a strike rate of 176.7 with the help of 33 sixes and 42 boundaries. The output dipped last year, where he managed only 293 runs at an average of around 21. He hopes to turn it around during the T20 World Cup 2026 in India and Sri Lanka.
