In a heart-touching moment during the semi-final match of the T20 World Cup 2024 between India and England, Indian head coach Rahul Dravid was seen consoling star batter Virat Kohli after another disappointing performance. This incident took place at the Providence Stadium in Guyana on Thursday, June 27.

The Match Setup

England won the toss, chose to field first, putting India to bat. All eyes were on Kohli, whose recent form had been a major concern for both fans and experts. Unfortunately, Kohli’s innings in the semi-final was brief but eventful.

Virat Kohli’s Innings

Kohli faced a series of dot balls before smashing a classic no-look six. However, his moment of brilliance was short-lived as he was bowled by Reece Topley on the very next delivery, leaving him with just nine runs from nine balls.

As Kohli walked off the field visibly disappointed, cameras captured the moment when Rahul Dravid stepped in to console the 35-year-old.

Continuing Struggles

This semi-final performance marked a continuation of Kohli’s rough patch in the T20 World Cup 2024. Despite his stellar performance in the IPL 2024, where he clinched the Orange Cap with an impressive 741 runs from 15 innings, the World Cup has seen him score a mere 75 runs from seven innings, including two ducks.

Team India’s Response

Despite the early setback with Kohli’s dismissal, India’s skipper Rohit Sharma displayed his typical aggressive form, delivering powerful shots against England’s bowling attack. However, the team faced another blow when Rishabh Pant was dismissed, leaving them at 46 for 2 at the end of the powerplay.
