India started their T20 World Cup 2026 campaign under the leadership of Suryakumar Yadav against the United States of America (USA) at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai with pure dominance with the ball. They were rocked back early in the game to be restricted at 77/6 before their captain bailed them out of trouble.

Post the victory, it was announced that the entire blue brigade, along with the coaching stuff, will have a team dinner at the residence of their head coach, Gautam Gambhir, since their next game will be on February 12 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi against Namibia before they travel to the R. “I knew definitely someday it was going to come. Last whole year, I was trying to bat in such a way, hold the innings for the team, but it wasn't happening. But then I left it alone after I played the last series of last year against South Africa. Packed my kit bag, spent a lot of time with family for two weeks,Sky told after the end of the game.
