Against India’s aggressive batting, which posted 86 runs for the loss of one wicket inside the powerplay during the T20 World Cup 2026 clash at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, the pressure was on the Namibia side and their bowlers. But their captain, Gerhard Erasmus, stood out with a fine performance with the ball, using the variations.

Despite bowling three great overs, the captain, Gerhard Erasmus, brought himself back into the attack on the penultimate over of the first innings. And after being smashed for a six on the very first ball, he dismissed Hardik Pandya on 52 runs. It was a lucky dismissal for the captain as the right-handed batter mistimed the full-toss on the leg-stump into the hands of the fielder, who grabbed a brilliant catch at the boundary rope.

On the very next delivery, India lost Shivam Dube due to the miscommunication between the southpaw and Rinku Singh as the latter smashed the ball to the cover region and asked for a single before Rinku sold his partner down the river.

Two balls later, the Namibia captain broke the stumps of Axar Patel as he finished with his fine spell of 4/20 in his four overs. It was a random delivery that drifted in from the wide angle to the left-handed batter who slogged across the line before finding his stumps being broken.

India finished with 209 runs on the board in their allotted 20 overs of the innings for the loss of nine wickets. Their opener, Ishan Kishan, creamed a fine knock of 61 runs in 24 balls with the help of five sixes and six boundaries at a strike rate of 254.17.

Meanwhile, Hardik creamed 52 runs in 28 balls with the help of four boundaries and four sixes. But, apart from these two, the rest of the home batting line-up struggled against the spinners, which would be a concern for the batting management heading into their next counter against Pakistan in Colombo.

Brief Score: India 209/9 (Ishan Kishan 61, Hardik Pandya 52, Gerhard Erasmus 4/20) vs Namibia 29/0 (Jan Frylinck 18*)
