[WATCH] Throwback to young Shubman Gill's old video where he talks about his cricketing ambitions
In light of his career-best knock of 269 against England, the Indian Test captain's old video has resurfaced, where he could be heard talking about his ambitions of representing India.

Indian Test captain Shubman Gill's form with the bat has peaked just at the right time for India in the ongoing Anderson-Tendulkar Test series. Gill hogged the limelight on day two of the Edgbaston Test by becoming the first Indian skipper to score a double century in Test cricket in England. Leading from the front, the Punjab-born batter seemed unstoppable and slammed a towering 269 to push England on the back foot. His dismissive style of strokeplay has given India an edge over the home side. Unfortunately, he failed to unlock the triple century milestone and was dismissed by Josh Tongue moments after the Tea break.
Following his swashbuckling masterclass in Edgbaston, the cricketing fraternity rose up to laud Gill's historic innings. In light of his monumental feat, an old video of young Shubman Gill has surfaced online. The Punjab Cricket Association, Gill's domestic FC team, released this video to treasure this iconic moment.
In this video, Gill, featured as a young, skinny boy, talked at length about his desire to represent the Blues at the highest level. Besides, he also shared his wisdom on how to operate successfully as a batter in a multi-day game and the temperament that is needed to excel in Test cricket. Despite being so young at that time, Gill's knowledge of the game and his strong presence of mind stood out in this video.

Furthermore, during the video, he also stresses the importance of playing grounded shots as opposed to attempting high-risk lofted shots to ensure longevity as a Test batter. These are some of the most important traits a batter needs to be in possession of if he or she is to excel in the longest format. Fortunately, the Indian skipper is gifted with such valuable traits, and we are seeing him come good in a pivotal point of this Test series.
As far as the state of the second Test goes, India have successfully thwarted the English bowlers and went on to pile up a massive 587 runs. Indian quicks, most notably Akash Deep and Siraj, dented the home side even further by reducing them to 77-3 at the call of stumps on day two.
