At the age of just 14, the upcoming superb young left-handed opening batter, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, has taken his game to a new stage. The young cricketer, hailing from Bihar, has grabbed the attention of the entire nation. The explosive batter has received the highest civilian honours for youngsters in India. On December 26, in Delhi, he was conferred with the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar (PMRBP).

The award ceremony took place in Delhi, which marks a massive chapter in the career of the batter. Having arrived in the city, the youngster received the award from President Droupadi Murmu. Following the formal ceremony, he and his fellow awardees would now meet the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi.

It's an interaction aimed at inspiring the next generation of Indian leaders and achievers. Due to the presence in the ceremony, the southpaw will remain unavailable for the remainder of the Vijay Haare Trophy (VHT) 2025/26.  For any dedicated athlete, the field is difficult. It’s being recognized as the best and most prestigious chance for the players.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi gets highest civilian award from India’s President

The Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar (PMRBP) is the country’s civilian honour for children between the ages of five and 18, as it is awarded for achievements in art and culture, bravery, environment, innovation, science and technology, social service, and sports.

Suryavanshi, on his very first season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), smashed 252 runs in seven innings at an average of 36 and a strike rate of 206.55 with the help of one half-century and one century at the best score of 101 that he celebrated against the Gujarat Titans at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. This helped him get an early notice in the contest.

Suryavanshi has overall amassed 322 runs in seven innings of List-A cricket at an average of 46 and a strike rate of 157.84 with the help of one fifty and one century. His best score of 190 runs came during the first round of the Vijay Hazare Trophy (VHT) 2025/26 against Arunachal Pradesh.
