No matter whether Virat Kohli has turned up for only one format for the Indian cricket team, he has shown the cricketing world what he can do during the opening ODI of the three-match series against South Africa at the JSCA International Cricket Stadium in Ranchi. The star batter, amidst all the speculation, belted a fine century, which was his 52nd in the format, the most by any individual in a single form of the game.
With Kohli retiring from Test cricket and having taken the same decision from the shortest format last year, there was white noise about whether he could remain fit and in rhythm for the ODI games. The BCCI seemed to have a decision regarding this with the head coach, Gautam Gambhir, and the chief selector, Ajit Agarkar.

After the end of the Ranchi game, which India won by 17 runs to go 1-0 up in the series, a video of Kohli has gone viral on social media platforms, where he was seen to ignore Gambhir while entering the dressing room. This confirms the speculation about the current situation of the Indian dressing room.

In the video, Kohli was seen walking up the stairs and got into the dressing room where Gambhir was seated. Kohli, with his mobile in hand, appeared to give the head coach a cold shoulder, walking past him even without giving a look at him, while Gambhir kept watching the former captain.
India batted first to post 349 runs on the board, thanks to Kohli’s 135 in 120 balls while KL Rahul, the stand-in captain, drilled 60 runs in 56 balls. Kuldeep Yadav picked up four wickets with the ball in his 10-over spell.
“I have never been a believer in a lot of preparation. All my cricket has been mental. I work physically very hard, as long as my fitness levels are up and I am feeling well, it's good. I've played 300-odd ODI games and so much cricket, if you're in touch with the game and can hit balls in practice, if you bat for an hour or two in the nets, you know you're good.” Kohli expressed after the Ranchi ODI.
