Virat Kohli, who has been picked in the 20-member squad for the Delhi and District Cricket Association, has started his preparation for the upcoming 2025/26 season of the Vijay Hazare Trophy (VHT).
With the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) announcing Virat Kohli’s name in the 20-member squad for the Vijay Hazare Trophy (VHT) 2025/26 for the first couple of games against Andhra and Gujarat to be played at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru under the leadership of Rishabh Pant, the focus has been on the star batter.
Virat Kohli, who returned to the UK after the conclusion of the recent three-match ODI series against South Africa at home, flew back to India last week with his wife, Anushka Sharma, and spent some time in Delhi before moving to Mumbai, after which they made their way to Alibaug, where Kohli has been seen practicing in his cricketing gear.

Kohli has been seen putting up a net and working on his batting stance of driving the deliveries or leaving them on to up to get the rhythm back, which was in his kit bag during the recent Protea series. The right-handed batter has been in superb touch with the bat in recent times.

Kohli retired from the longest format and shortest format in a span of just one year, as his sole focus has now only been on the upcoming ODI World Cup 2027 in South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia. The right-handed batter had a nightmare start to his 50-over format return against Australia down under when he returned with two successive ducks.

However, he got his form back during the third clash at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) with an unbeaten half-century while celebrating two consecutive centuries against the Rainbow Nation in Ranchi and Raipur. Even in the third encounter against the same opposition, he drilled an aggressive half-century in Vizag to help India win the game and bag the series by 2-1.
Kohli’s recent contest for Delhi was at the start of the year when he featured in the Ranji Trophy 2024/25 clash against Railways at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. For the VHT 2025/26, he will also meet his long-time mate, Ishant Sharma, who has also been available for the event.
