The eighth encounter of the Kerala Cricket League (KCL) 2025 took place between Kochi Blue Tigers and Aries Kollam Sailors at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram, when the opening wicket-keeper batter, Vishu Vinod, grabbed the eyeballs with a fiery knock of 94 runs in 41 balls.

Ahead of the Asia Cup 2025, the eyes are on the event. The right-handed batter’s superb knock was decorated with just three boundaries and 10 sixes at a strike rate of nearly 230. His knock was one of the biggest reasons behind the Aries putting 236 runs on the board in their allotted 20 overs of the first innings. However, it proved to be a small total, regarding the result of the fixture.

A video has gone viral where Vishu has been seen smashing the big shots around the park. The right-handed batter pulled the short balls and used his wrist to flick the balls into the leg side. Moreover, he also made room to connect the ball sweetly and smack the big shots. His power on the deliveries was incredible, which showed his strength against the pacers.

In the first innings of the game, Vinod got 94 runs before the number three batter, captain Sachin Baby, cracked 91 runs in just 44 balls at a strike rate of 206.82, with the help of six boundaries and as many over boundaries. Amal AG got 12 runs in five balls as they posted 236/5 in their allotted 20 overs in the first innings.

However, Sanju Samson’s knock of 121 runs in 51 balls was enough for the Kochi side to chase down the target. On the last ball of the second innings, they needed to nail a six, and that was what Muhammed Ashik did and remained unbeaten on 45 runs in 18 balls, thanks to three fours and five sixes.

The 31-year-old Vinod has overall drilled 1620 runs in 63 T20 innings at an average of 31.15 and a strike rate of over 142, with the help of eight half-centuries and one century at the best score of unbeaten 109 runs.
