WATCH: Yuvraj Singh wishes Abhishek Sharma on his birthday with special video
Watch the former Indian all-rounder, Yuvraj Singh, who won the 2011 ODI World Cup with the national side has wished Abhishek Sharma in a special post on his birthday. Abhishek is now part of the Indian 15-member squad for the Asia Cup 2025 in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

The former Indian all-rounder, Yuvraj Singh, has shared a special post on the current T20I opening batter of the Blue Brigade, Abhishek Sharma, on the latter’s birthday. Abhishek, the number one-ranked batter in the shortest format of the game, was recently selected in the 15-member squad for the Blue Brigade for the upcoming Asia Cup 2025.
Yuvraj shared the video, which started with the veteran clapping for Abhishek coming into the ground on time with snippets of some special shots for the Indian side in the nets or the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) from the Indian Premier League. Yuvraj has always shown his trust in the free-flowing left-handed batter.
The batter, who turned 25, has featured in 17 T20Is for the national side to smash 535 runs at an average of 33.43 and a strike rate of 193.84, thanks to two centuries and as many half-centuries at the best score of 135 against England.

The left-handed Punjab batter has overall smacked 4034 runs in 142 innings of the T20s at an average of 31.51 and a strike rate of 166.28 with the help of 22 half-centuries and seven centuries at the best score of 141 runs. In the IPL 2025, the southpaw clubbed 439 runs in 13 innings at an average of 33.76 and a strike rate of 193.39 with two fifties and one century.
“Yubi paji was the one to believe in me, and when someone like Yuvraj Singh is telling you that you are going to play for the country and you are going to win the games, obviously you try to think that 'okay I will play for India and I will do my best.” Abhishek expressed during an interaction after the home T20I series against England earlier this year.
Abhishek is likely to open the batting for India along with the Test captain and the T20I vice-captain, Shubman Gill, with Tilka Verma and captain Suryakumar Yadav expected to bat at number three and four. The biggest problem will be that Sanju Samson will have to miss out, as Jitesh Sharma will get his chance in the middle order along with the wicket-keeping gloves.
