The Gujarat Titans (GT) take on the Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the fourth match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 in New Chandigarh. Both teams are playing their first game today and will have a lot to take away after the end of the match. While GT are led by Shubman Gill, PBKS have Shreyas Iyer as their captain for this season.

It was PBKS who won the toss and decided to bowl first. Their decision went well in their favour as the bowlers managed to collect wickets at regular intervals, putting the visitors under pressure. It will be intriguing to see how well the GT bowlers perform in the next innings. Meanwhile, GT will get to use their new bowler Ashok Sharma in the next innings.

Ashok Sharma’s background, domestic journey and rise to IPL

Gujarat Titans (GT) picked up a 23-year-old young pacer in the IPL auction back in 2025 for Rs 90 lakh. He plays for Rajasthan in domestic cricket and had an incredible season during the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025. He picked up 19 wickets in the group stage at an average of 12.10 and an economy rate of 8.84.

He was a net bowler for Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals in the previous seasons of the tournament. After giving trials for many teams, including Royal Challengers Bengaluru, he finally got a chance to play in the IPL 2026 for the Titans. The coaches are quite impressed with his performance in the nets and will be hoping for a memorable debut against PBKS.

What Ashok Sharma brings to Gujarat Titans in IPL 2026

The 23-year-old bowler is a great addition to the squad, especially for the bowling department. He brings in raw pace, consistency, and hunger to prove himself in IPL 2026 for the Gujarat Titans. Ashok is known for maintaining 150 kmph and also adds depth to the pace attack with his knack for picking crucial wickets under pressure.

His ability to swing the new ball and maintain his variations throughout the match will help him take wickets in the IPL. Since he is a new bowler, the batters will not be much aware about his variations, which will be helpful for the franchise in the end.
