Rohit Sharma smashed 155 runs off just 94 balls in the previous match against Sikkim to help Mumbai chase a target of 237 runs with ease. However, two days later, the situation was completely different. The star opener was dismissed for a golden duck, leaving fans disappointed at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. Thousands of fans had reached the stadium as early as 7 AM to watch their favourite cricketer.

Devendra Singh Bora was the bowler who spoiled the moment as he dismissed Rohit Sharma on the very first ball of the match. Bora bowled the ball in the right area, and Rohit ended up giving a catch to Jagmohan Nagarkoti.

The 25-year-old fast bowler is now in the spotlight after dismissing one of India’s greatest white-ball batters. What makes it more special is that Rohit Sharma was in great form, coming off a brilliant century in the previous game. Here is everything you need to know about Devendra Singh Bora.

Devendra Bora’s Impact in the Uttarakhand Premier League

Devendra Singh Bora is playing only the third List A match of his career, and Rohit Sharma became his fifth wicket in the 50-over format. So far, Bora has an impressive average of 19.5 and a strike rate of 20.2. Getting Rohit out on the very first ball of the match will surely boost his confidence for the rest of the tournament.

In the previous match against Himachal Pradesh, Bora produced an excellent spell and returned with figures of 4/44, which helped him begin his Vijay Hazare Trophy campaign on a strong note. In first-class cricket, the fast bowler has taken 30 wickets so far, with an average of 41.13 and a strike rate of 69.7.

Earlier this year, Devendra Bora also impressed in the Uttarakhand Premier League (UPL) while playing for Dehradun Warriors. He picked up 10 wickets in just six matches and made an impact for his team in almost every match he played.

Bora’s ability to take wickets consistently makes him valuable in the white-ball format. However, improving control under pressure, especially in death overs and expanding his skill set with more variations (slower balls, cutters) will be crucial. Enhancing his batting would also add versatility to his profile.
