Who is Kristen Beams?

The 41-year-old Kristen Beams was a former Australian cricketer, as she was popular as a leg-spinner. She served for the Australian Women’s international cricket team between 2014 and 2017. She played one Women’s Test, 30 Women’s ODIs, and 18 Women’s T20Is, where she took 42 WODI wickets and 20 WT20I wickets, but couldn’t manage to open her WTest wickets column in her only Women’s Test match.

Kristen was the leading wicket-taker for Australia Women in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2017, as the joint third leading wicket-taker in the tournament took 12 wickets in seven innings. However, the defending champions Australia Women were eliminated by India Women from the second Semi-final of that tournament.

Kristen Beams dismissed centurion with broken finger

Meanwhile, Kristen Beams is famous for a brave incident in her international cricket career. During the third game of the five-match home WODI series against South Africa Women, Kristen was forced to leave the field after her four overs due to a broken finger. But after getting medical attention, she returned to the field with her still broken finger and delivered two more overs, where she also took a wicket of the South African opener Lizelle Lee, who scored 102 runs off 89 balls with the help of six fours and seven sixes. Kristen had the bowling figures of 6-0-35-1.

Kristen Beams announced her retirement from the game in December 2019. She also played Women’s Big Bash League for five seasons (2015-16 to 2019-20). In her 45 WBBL games, serving all for Melbourne Stars Women, Kristen took 37 wickets, including one four-fer.
