The long-desired dream of Virat Kohli to win his first IPL title has taken a darker turn - your first IPL title cannot come with such tragedy overshadowing Royal Challengers Bengaluru's first victory. After the historic win, Kohli and the RCB team were back in Bengaluru for a massive celebration. However, the expected joy turned into chaos when a massive crowd showed up outside the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. And what should have been nothing but celebration and elation turned into a stampede with 11 casualties and 67 injured, creating outrage and backlash from thousands of fans, some calling for Kohli's arrest in the wake of the disaster.
The celebration parade started with the team getting officially congratulated at the Vidhana Soudha by Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. Thereafter, the players moved on to M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, where thousands of fans had gathered to see their heroes. Sadly, crowd control and underwhelming security resulted in panic and a deadly stampede outside the venue. Meanwhile, inside the stadium, the celebrations continued by Kohli, and the team skipper, Rajat Patidar, addressed the crowd, which many condemned considering the situation outside.
In response to the tragedy, Bengaluru Police have taken four officials from RCB and event management firm DNA Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. into custody. An FIR has been filed against RCB, DNA, and the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA), holding them accountable for negligence. Authorities are now investigating the sequence of events that led to the fatal incident. As the probe unfolds, questions loom over the lack of coordination and the failure to anticipate the massive turnout, raising serious concerns about safety planning at major sporting events in the country. This is how Twitter has reacted to the incident;

Back in 2016 CSK was targeted because the owner's son was involved in betting and alleged matchfixing. As a result, some people unfairly called MS Dhoni a 'fixer' and labeled us 'cheaters'
So now, can we call Kohli a 'killer' and the RCB team murderers?#ArrestKohli pic.twitter.com/wt39sew6kx
FIR have been filed against RCB
Following the devastating stampede that occurred during RCB's celebration parade in Bengaluru, a FIR has now been filed against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru franchise, as well as the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) and others. The case falls under several serious charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which includes culpable homicide not amounting to murder. The police are holding the organizers liable for gross negligence given the errors related to handling crowd control which led to the tragic death of 11 individuals, with dozens receiving injuries. This incident ignited reflux and widespread outrage, resulting in immediate concern over event security protocols.
The FIR cites numerous sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita: Section 105 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder), Section 115 (voluntarily causing hurt), Section 118 (causing hurt by dangerous means), Section 121 (causing hurt to deter a public servant from their duty), Section 190 (offense by members of unlawful assembly), Section 132 (assaulting a public servant), and Section 125(12) (causing danger to life or personal safety). There is a specific significance to all of these sections being included, as they elucidate the clear failure in event obligations referencing crowd control and security. The investigation process has begun with the determination of the roles and responsibilities to follow, as well as the legal implications associated with them.
