High drama at the center of the Lord's cricket ground when India's women's team was up against England's women's team for the second ODI of the series. In a rain-shortened match between these two teams, Tamsin Beaumont's act came under scrutiny.

Team India applied heavily for a potential move to obstruct a throw. Beaumont was walking back to her crease after dismissing her idea to seat a single when Jemimah Rodrigues, from the short mid-wicket region, threw the ball to find wicketkeeper Richa Ghosh. The event happened during a Deepti Sharma over in the second innings, while England was chasing a revised target of 115 runs after the DLS method came into effect.

Sharma delivered a fuller, which the England opener pushed gently towards the mid-wicket area, and then took off to claim a run, but she cancelled her plan to see a quick Jemimah close to grab the ball. When she threw the ball, it was about to strike a pad of Beaumont's. After placing her left foot inside the crease, with her right leg, she appeared to attempt kicking the ball away. Though she didn’t make contact, it appeared that she had tried to stop the ball with her foot before it reached Ghosh. For valid reasons, India appealed heavily to the umpires that Beaumont had tried to interfere with the throw.

Why the third umpire declared her not out?

After a long conversation between two on-field umpires, they decided to fix it through a review. After watching the incident multiple times on screen, the third umpire declared Tamsin Beaumont not out.But why did the third umpire give a not out to the England batter? According to the rules by the International Cricket Council, the on-strike batter will not be out if they obstruct the field accidentally to avoid injury or in the case of a second/subsequent strike made to guard the wicket lawfully.

Jemmi definitely felt that maybe she kicked it or something. They referred it, and it was not out, so I'm sure that they should have seen all the angles. That's the only view I have on it,” Mandhana told reporters after the end of the match where India lost.
