Why were GT vs CSK matches swapped? Full story behind IPL 2026 changes
GT vs CSK fixtures in IPL 2026 were swapped due to venue constraints and scheduling changes, with April 26 and May 21 matches revised by the BCCI.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 has started on a great note with teams playing stunning cricket around the country. There have been some low-scoring games and mostly high-scoring matches, keeping the crowd on their feet. The thrillers have been quite intriguing to watch as well. Meanwhile, a small venue swap has happened for the CSK vs GT fixture in the IPL 2026.
Currently, CSK are at the bottom of the points table with just a single win in four games. They won their last encounter against the Delhi Capitals at Chepauk Stadium after losing three consecutive matches. Meanwhile, the Shubman Gill-led Gujarat Titans are in the fifth position with two wins in four matches. They started their campaign with a loss but went on to win the last two games.
GT vs CSK schedule swap and venue changes in IPL 2026
The BCCI's Honorary Secretary Devajit Saikia informed that the GT vs CSK fixture will be swapped due to the elections in Gujarat. To avoid logistical problems, the BCCI has come to the conclusion to interchange the match schedule. Initially, the first game between the teams was slated on April 26 in Ahmedabad at 3.30 PM, which will now be held in Chennai.
The timing remains the same, but the venues have changed. Similarly, the match on May 21st, originally scheduled in Chennai at 7.30 PM, will now be played in Ahmedabad. The Municipal Corporation elections are held on April 26, and that's why the change in schedule has happened.
"The change has been necessitated in view of the municipal corporation elections in Ahmedabad and other parts of Gujarat scheduled on April 26, 2026," BCCI Honorary Secretary Devajit Saikia stated in the release.
