The clash between Gujarat Giants and Mumbai Indians Women is set to unfold in Bengaluru for Match 3 of the WPL 2024 on Sunday, February 25th, commencing at 7:30 pm IST. While this marks Gujarat Giants’ debut in the campaign, it’s the second outing for Mumbai Indians Women.

In the previous season, the two teams had contrasting performances in the WPL 2023. Mumbai Indians Women emerged victorious as champions, whereas the Giants secured the runner-up position despite boasting a highly experienced think tank.

As the new season kicks off, Mumbai Indians Women, under the leadership of Harmanpreet Kaur, the national team captain, are geared up once again. With seasoned players like Hayley Mathews, Nat Sciver, Katherine Brunt, Amelia Kerr, and Shabnim Ismail in their lineup, they aim to carry forward their winning momentum.

Mumbai Indians Women have won the toss and elected to field, setting the stage for an exciting encounter. The Bengaluru pitch, known for its conducive conditions for pace bowlers early on, might favor Mumbai’s decision to bowl first.

Women’s Premier League: Who said what at the toss?

Harmanpreet Kaur: We are gonna bowl first. Dew is a factor here so that is the reason we wanted to bowl first. In the last game, we gave away too many runs and we have to be more disciplined today. We are going in with the same team.

Beth Mooney: It was a bit of a 50-50 call, it’s a new wicket and we don’t mind having a look at it first with the bat. The preperation has been great, we have got some exciting prospects and hopefully we can put our best foot forward. Phoebe Litchfield, Lea Tahuhu, and Kathryn Bryce all make their debut as overseas players today. Unfortunately, Laura Wolvaardt misses out, we’ve got Veda Krishnamurthy opening with me and Meghna Singh bowling as well. So, it’ll be a great line-up.
