Royal Challengers Bangalore Women vs Gujarat Giants Women

In Bengaluru’s Chinnaswamy Stadium, the Royal Challengers Bangalore Women are set to clash against the Gujarat Giants in the fifth match of the WPL 2024 on Tuesday, February 27th, commencing at 7:30 pm IST.
This encounter marks the fifth game held in Bengaluru, with the city slated to host the initial 11 matches before the tournament transitions to Delhi for the subsequent phase, encompassing the Eliminator and the final. In the previous season, these two teams squared off twice, each securing a victory in high-scoring contests.
Under the captaincy of Smriti Mandhana, the RCB women’s team, despite finishing fourth last season with just two wins, commenced this season with a triumphant start against the UP Warriorz. Mandhana’s squad showcased resilience in their latest victory, defending a mere 12 runs to clinch the match in the final over.
However, Mandhana’s individual performance with the bat has been under scrutiny, as she struggled to accumulate only 13 runs in the previous match, yet to register a half-century in the WPL. Winning the toss, the Royal Challengers Bangalore Women have elected to field first against their opponents.
Women’s Premier League: Who said what at the toss?
Smriti Mandhana | RCB captain: We would like to field first. There’s something in it in the first 5 overs and I think it’s always good to get a look in T20 cricket. Last game was brilliant, close wins are always special and they get the team going. We want to play the best brand of cricket. The first game was definitely important but it’s also important to forget the past and keep moving. Same team.
Beth Mooney | GGT captain: You need to try and embrace a crowd like this. We’ve had a few meeting here and there, these tournaments happen really quickly, we need to believe in the method and get the processes right before we get the results. We’ve got some world class players, some of them will have to miss out but opportunities will come by. No changes.
