Dubai International Cricket Stadium is hosting the crucial Group A match of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 between India Women and Sri Lanka Women. India Women's captain Harmanpreet Kaur chose to bat first after winning the toss.

Crucial match for both teams

India Women and Sri Lanka Women are in the fourth and fifth places of the Group A points table. After losing against New Zealand Women by 58 runs. India Women beat Pakistan Women by six wickets after successfully chasing the 106-run target in the 19th over. On the other hand, Sri Lanka Women lost their first two matches of the tournament, as Pakistan Women won by 31 runs and Australia Women won by six wickets.

It is a must-win game for both teams. With another loss on Wednesday, Sri Lanka Women can only secure their elimination from the tournament. Meanwhile, a win will help them to stay in contention.

On the other hand, India Women can open a chance for their next round qualification with a win against Sri Lanka Women. However, they still have to face challenging situations to secure their position in the knockout rounds.

India vs Sri Lanka: Who said what at the toss?

Harmanpreet Kaur: We gonna bat first, so far we haven't batted first so thought we will have a bat and put a decent total on the board. Feeling better (talking about her neck injury), if we play better cricket maybe I will feel more better. Asia Cup we played good cricket, one odd day (talking about the final where India lose to Sri Lanka) they played good cricket. We are going with the same eleven we played in the same game.

Chamari Athapaththu: We stick with our plans and hope to play our best cricket today. We have to play fearless cricket and taking the smart option is very important. Powerplay is really important and after that we have to rotate strike. We have one change, Ama Kanchana back in the side for Hasini Perera.
